Adopt an Artwork - the story so far
Launching in 2015 NERAM’s Adopt an Artwork Program invites members of the community to sponsor the conservation treatment of a specific artwork from the NERAM collection by International Conservation Services. Artworks requiring conservation treatments to restore them to their former glory and to ensure their best possible preservation for future generations were identified from the vast NERAM collections and made available for adoption.
To date over $170,000 towards the treatment of 100 paintings, prints, drawings and watercolours has been raised and the first works have made their way to International Conservation Services in Sydney for treatment.
The program has also increased community awareness of conservation issues through associated activities including presentations and conservation workshops and the Operation Preservation exhibition curated by NERAM’s own paper conservator Jennifer Taylor.
